This article will show you the basics of an Epson TM88 Thermal Printer, including where the cables should connect to and some checks to make if the printer is not working correctly.
Epson TM88 Thermal Printer
This will be the model of printer that will be connected directly to your till and may also be a Bar Dispense Drinks printer and sometimes used in the Kitchen. If this is not the correct printer please see article XXXXXXXX for a Kitchen Impact Printer Epson U220
Connections on the back of the printer, if it is connected to your till
On the rear of the printer you will have 2 connections
1. Connection 1 is the power supply cable, if you have no power to the printer if you can check this is firmly connected.
2. Connection 2 is the cable that will connect to the till If you can make sure this cable is firmly connected. (please see article How to check potential issues if an Epson Kitchen Printer is not working for where it should connect to the till).
Connections on the back of the printer, if it is a Drinks or Kitchen Printer
If you printer is located in the Kitchen or is used as a Drinks Dispense printer it will have the connection below.
This Network cable highlighted, will go from the printer, to a Network socket. If the printer is not printing out order tickets or receipts, please check this cable is firmly attached to both the socket on the printer and to the port on the wall where it plugs into.
You can try taking it out from both sockets and re-seating it back in, so as to make sure it is correctly attached.
Error lights on Printer
Check that there are no lights showing on either the Paper Out or Error lights. If there are please check the paper is correctly inserted into the printer.
Also if you can check that when pressing the Feed Button, Paper feeds out of the printer.
